Author Bios

Dr. L. Christine Kinsey:
Christine Kinsey is a professor of mathematics and the chair of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Canisius College. She received her Ph.D. from University of Maryland in geometric topology. After teaching for some years at Vanderbilt University, she joined the faculty at Canisius, where she has been actively involved in developing new courses in geometry and topology. Prior publications include Topology of Surfaces (Undergraduate Texts in Mathematics, Springer-Verlag).

Personal: Hobbies include reading, hiking, gardening, and knitting Mobius bands. She lives with her dog Lisa Marie and cats Steve and Tschantz.

Dr. Teresa E. Moore:
Teresa Moore is an associate professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Ithaca College. She received her Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Binghamton in geometric topology and began

teaching at Ithaca College in 1990. She is interested in making mathematics a positive experience for all students. To promote this agenda, she has given presentations and been on panels at several national mathematics meetings, and has worked as the Ithaca College coordinator for many programs including Preparing Future Faculty, the Hudson River Undergraduate Mathematics Conference and Pi Mu Epsilon. Her continued efforts to make mathematics accessible and intriguing to liberal arts students are represented by Symmetry, Shape, and Space, published by Key College Publishing.

Personal: She enjoys skiing, bicycling and windsurfing (for a few short months in New York), but she particularly enjoys spending time with her husband and young sons.
